Artifact Necklace - Bronze, Shibuichi, Sterling Silver - faceted, geometric

This listing is for one necklace. This unisex design is an abstract form inspired by crystal formations, brutalist architecture and machinery. It is meant to have the look and feel of a component from some imagined ancient mechanism or a fragment from a geological formation that took place over millions of years.

It is available in three materials, the more yellow one pictured is bronze, and the darker, more grey one is shibuichi (an alloy of 25% silver and 75% copper), unpictured is the sterling silver option, which has a sandblasted finish which will naturally patina to a darker grey on the flat surfaces and remain silver on the edges. The pictures are how the pieces look after daily wear for several months. The shibuichi has a rose gold like color on the edges and where it is in more contact with skin or clothing. They are approximately 1 3/8" long and 1/4" wide and the facet pattern varies slightly between the front and the back. I do not coat my metals with anything other than a protective wax. I prefer the metal to age naturally and I don't like the idea of a clear coating that can chip away. Copper alloys can react to sweat turning skin dark or greenish color, but since this design has minimal contact with the skin, it should not be much of an issue, especially if worn on the outside of a shirt.

Though pictured on cotton cord, I am now making these instead with stainless steel chain. The chain is much more durable than the cotton cord which collects dirt and breaks down over time. The chain will be 16" with a 2" extension for a total of 18". Other lengths are available on request.

I fabricate and cast all of my designs myself in my studio. I do not outsource any processes or production, and I do not use any prefabricated or mass produced components other than chain.
